In a bone-chilling incident, a woman in Jammu has alleged that a station house officer forcibly stripped her at a police station and sexually assaulted her. She further alleged that a beer bottle and chilli powder were inserted in her private parts.
Speaking to CNN-News18, the lawyer of the victim said the assault was similar to the Nirbhaya gang-rape case in Delhi. Meanwhile, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh has asked the Jammu and Kashmir government to “immediately look into it”.
The victim hails from Kanachak area of Jammu. The 25-year-old alleged that the incident took place a few days ago when she was falsely accused of theft from a couple’s house where she worked as a maid.
She also claimed that Kanachal Police Station SHO Rakesh Sharma confined and tortured her for a week.
The victim told the channel that she was not given anything to eat while in custody. When asked for water, policemen used to tell her to drink urine instead, alleged the victim. The woman also alleged that her mother, husband and child were beaten by cops. She further said she was falsely framed.
The woman was granted bail on May 06. A special investigation team has been constituted to probe the matter.
